PUTTING OBSOLETE TAPE DATA BEYOND REACH OR RECOVERY
Gentronics can provide on-site or off-site Tape Media Erasure Solutions. If you prefer to retain your media, we can securely wipe all data and leave the tape fit for re-use. Alternatively, we can erase all tracks (including servo tracks) by degaussing – or shred the tapes, destroying all data so that nothing can possibly be recovered.
How our tape erasure solutions work
Our tape erasure solutions provide you with a totally secure data destruction guarantee. Additionally, we can erase and re-certify each tape’s entire data area, returning the tape media to you in a totally reusable state. We also give a ‘buy back’ guarantee should your tape be rendered unusable for any reason.

We also fully bench test each tape before returning it you – so you can be certain that it will work reliably after being erased.
Service options include:
- Erase data tracks and re-certify – allowing the media to be reused
- Erase all tracks including servo tracks – rendering the media unusable
- Degauss
- Shred
Where re use of your tape media is not required, we can shred and then incinerate your tape media at an ‘Energy from Waste’ facility. This is the most secure and environmentally friendly method of recycling this sensitive product.

MOBILE ON-SITE OR OFF-SITE TAPE ERASURE SOLUTIONS
Gentronics’ state of the art vehicle can be deployed to either shred or wipe your tape media at your location. Fitted with CCTV camera’s, our mobile solution records the entire process from end to end.
Where the number of devices or security requirements are comparatively low, then Gentronics can provide an off-site service in our secure facility, where we can either return for reuse or destroy all media.
LTO Tape Duplication, Migration, Verification, Erasure and Archive Service
Gentronics now offer a complete in-house LTO Tape Duplication Service, to migrate and verify your LTO tapes regardless of generation – including encrypted formats and media re-labelling.
